Lobby Glazing: The original entrance foyer has been transformed with a striking 25 metre long glass assembly running the width of the building, maximising the amount of indoor space. At 11 metres high this assembly is supported by tapered steel mullions in a silver paint finish, which at one end of the foyer returns back 4 metres to form a glass roof. At the rear of the foyer, a second glass assembly encloses a childcare centre with 17.52mm clear heat strengthened laminated glass used. A total of 5 pairs of frameless glass pivot doors provide easy access between the cafe and outdoor eating area, as well as to the childcare centre, with security cameras integrated into the entrance portal.
Curved Automatic Sliding Door Entrance: To provide an open yet striking automatic entrance to the foyer, JB aluminium & Glass Projects worked with the architects to develop a curved automatic sliding door system with a glass roof. JB aluminium & Glass Projects extensive glazing design experience allowed it to build a portal structure in frameless glass curved sidewalls, with a glass roof that is supported by a tensile cable hanging from the steel mullion above the door. Record RST16 curved sliding door operator was mounted within a cutout in the suspended concrete slab with custom glass patch fitting supporting the frameless glass door wings. The infrared activation and safety sensors are mounted in the linished stainless steel top track, which also provides guides for the sliding door wings.
Cafe Glass Awning: A free standing frameless glass awning provides a strong visual appearance for the minimalistic cafe design within the building foyer. The design entails a mild steel support framework with the acid etched toughened laminated glass panels suspended below off stainless steel spider fittings.
